RHUMY AMITH

Rhumy Amith was educated at Zahira College Colombo and, particularly excelled in sports being the Rugby Captain and the Athletic Captain of the school. In 1992, he became the youngest Member of the Board of Governors of Zahira College, and as Director Zahira International School he was involved in starting English Medium education, the fruits of which you see today. He was instrumental in conducting motivational and leadership training for teachers, students, and parents.
He has 20 years of counselling and psychotherapy experience having trained under world-renowned Dr. Ina Watson UK, Dr. Janet LeVally USA, and Prof. Ranawaka SL. He is presently the President of Heartwork Academy of Psychology which trains students to become top-class counsellors and psychotherapists. He is also the Head of Heartwork Counselling Clinic Kolonnawa.
He has worked in many corporate companies and has a wide range of HR experiences.
He served as Regional Director, of the Peace Secretariat for Muslims, Southern Province (covering Galle, Matara, and Hambantota. Peace Secretariat for Muslims (a beneficiary of USAID, Begorf Foundation, and Royal Norwegian Government and recognized by GOSL).
As Senior Vice President of COSLAM (Conference of Sri Lanka Malays), He worked with the Disaster Management Team in coordination with the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA) during Tsunami.
Participated in the ‘Train the Trainer’ Level 2 Course of City & Guilds UK, conducted by Dynamix Business School (Pvt) Ltd. He has a Diploma in Psychology from the Colombo Institute of Research & Psychology, under the world-reputed Dr. Janet LeValley of USA, under whom he also learned the unique art of hypnotism.
Being co-founder Soulink Lanka he took a keen interest in improving the conditions of children with disability. He conducted a Centre for Disabled Children at Galhinna, Kandy, and Matale, with a Unit at Digana Government Hospital.
Amith did volunteer counselling at the request of the Chief Quadi of Matale and delicately handled all marriage issues. He also runs a regular online program on Islamic Theological issues. He is also Senior Admin at PPM which is a matrimony Facebook page for Malays, which has a membership of 6500 plus.
In 2014 June, Rhumy undertook an assignment to do study and research on orphans and children with special needs in the poor African country Malawi and served as Principal of Mai Aisha Academy in the capital city Lilongwe, bringing about a revolutionary change. The knowledge, expertise, skills, and experience he gained during this period are priceless. In Malawi, he assisted in establishing a Centre for Down syndrome and Disabled Children.
He has a BSc in Psychology and MSc in Counselling Psychology. He also has a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology.
He accomplished the Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with an Honours Pass at the Institute of Psychological Studies Sri Lanka, giving him a License to practice as a Professional Counsellor.

His obsession at the twilight of his life is to create well-being in the lives of humans through counselling and psychotherapy, and being a life coach.
