THE SPECTACULAR 5TH GRADUATION CEREMONY 

Heartwork Academy of Psychology held its 5th Graduation Ceremony on 15th February 2025 at CIDA Auditorium, Colombo 7 amidst a large gathering with much glitter and glamour. Since, its inception in 2016, Heartwork Academy of Psychology has been training students to be skilled and professional counselling therapists.

The Hon. Deputy Speaker and Chairmen of Committees of the Parliament Dr. Rizvi Salih MP graced the event as the Chief Guest. Director of Heartwork Dr. Rhumy Amith president over the event.

Dr. Rhumy in his Welcome Adress stated that 5 batches were held during the past term and insisted that students learn the proper perspectives and skills of counselling and psychotherapy. He said there is a dearth of experienced therapists and complaints are received regularly due to bad handling of clients by such incompetent counsellors. Therefore, he supported the idea of having a regulatory body to contain these malpractices.

5 students from different Batches received Batch Topper Awards namely Hafsa Jamal, Deonee Ratnam, Ifaza Ifham (Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy) and Madushani Karunaratne and Aysha Ajmal (Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy). Shamla Hanslar received the all-around best student Award. Certificates were also given to students who completed Clinical Studies at the National Institute of Mental Health Hospital Angoda and also for Diploma in Islamic Psychology.

2 Distinguished personalities received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their decades of unique social services. Mr Ifham Yehiya, President of the Sri Lanka Quazi Forum and Mr T K Azoor – President of Conference of Sri Lanka Malays were the recipients of these Awards.

Dr. I Y M Aniff, Dr. Prasanna Dharmapriya, Ms. Rozana Nooramith and Dr. Irshard Jabir the members of the Academic Council were also present along with the other dignitaries and VIP’s.

Ms. Madushi Karunaratne, Principal of Dharmaloka M V presented the Keynote address in which she stressed the importance of introducing psychology as a subject at secondary levels of education. Ms Madushani stated that at the age when she learnt psychology a lot of water had flown under the bride. She would have faced the world in a much emotionally skilled position had she learnt all these at school age.

The Hon. Deputy Speaker in his speech responded positively and praised Dr. Rhumy Amith’s efforts for creating a group of students who would walk out to the world to create that much-needed mentally positive vibrations. He also stated that the request to teach psychology as a subject at secondary levels would be looked into.

Batch Topper Student Aysha Ajmal in her speech spoke about her inspiring journey of psychology. A vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Hisham Sahid Baba.

HEARTWORK ACADEMY CELEBRATES GRADUATION DAY 2023

The 5th Graduation Ceremony 2023 of Heartwork Academy of Psychological Studies was held on 25th February at the Public Library Auditorium, Colombo 7, attended by a plethora of academics and special guests.

The President of Heartwork Academy Mr. Rhumy Amith stated that when he initiated this course way back in 2017 it was his passion to create a breed of skilled and professional counselling psychologists, who will cater to the demanding needs of the nation in handing mental sickness. The shortage of such counsellors has a big effect on human wellbeing in Sri Lanka. This graduation ceremony will see such counselling and psychotherapy experts fulfilling this ardent need. The Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy is tailor-made to ideally suit the local and international standards and best practices.
The charming Vraie Cally Balthazaar was the Chief Guest and she spoke about the great role that women played in building the nation through their dedication at home. Professor Anusha Edirisinghe the Special Guest and Director, Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya explained the conflicts and confusions on cyber-crime related issues. Dr. Shafraz Saleem, Senior Lecturer University of Colombo did a wonderful keynote address explaining what value based economy is.

Kids from Genius Academy AMI Montessori did a colorful welcome song and, ACE International School Band was in attendance to receive the VIP’s Social Services Excellence Awards were presented to M/s. Rizvi Bagoos, Mohamed Haniff, Ifthikar Ahmed Mashood and Hameed Sadik.
The Outstanding Student Awards from different batches were awarded to Hasna Humaizarah Luthufi, Hafeeza Azmi, Shafriya Markar, Shahida Nizam and F M Mathloob.

HEARTWORK ACADEMY CELEBRATES GRADUATION DAY 2021

Heartwork Academy of Psychological Studies held its Graduation Day ceremony at the Public Library Auditorium on 11th April 2021 Sunday afternoon to honour those students who received their certifications in ‘Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy’ and also ‘Life Skills through Psychology Course” Certificate Course.

Senior Professor of Criminology Professor Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe, of the University of Kelaniya – Department of Sociology, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest, and Guest of Honour Dr. Prasanna – Criminology and Crime Investigation, Asia Crime Foundation, Dr. Chathura Jayashanka – Chairman Cambridge City Campus were also present.

Special appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Irshard Jabir for being the live-wire of the Academic Council.

Dr. Safraz Saleem the Key Note Speaker did an amazing presentation on ‘The Brand – YOU’

Mr. Rhumy Amith the President of Heartwork Academy did the Welcome speech and presided over the event. He thanked the organizing committee headed by Mr. Muhiseen Ariff for their efforts.

The highlight of the event was the new concept of opening the ceremony by cutting a cake that had the Heartwork Logo, and also the Cup Cakes bouquets presented to the VIP Guests, done by Mrs. Rizmiya Raheem who is a student of the Academy and Director of Riz Culinary Arts and Salon Riz, and she also did the Vote of Thanks

Plaques were also presented as appreciation to the VIP Guests who attended the function.

Heartwork Academy wishes to very gratefully thank Mr. Raheem Razik, Mr. Muhiseen Ariff, Mrs. Rizmiya Raheem, Mrs. Ruzaika Hamza, for the hard work put in day and night to make this event a great success, and also, all others who attended and for their supportive role. Adil Anan did a wonderful job in compering.

GRADUATION DAY AT HEARTWORK ACADEMY 2019

Heartwork Academy of Psychological Studies held their Annual Graduation Ceremony on 22nd June, 2019 at All Ceylon YMMA Conference Auditorium. Students who successfully completed their Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Certificate Course in Psychology and Life Skills received their certifications accredited by Viswam Campus.

Deshamanya Lion Professor Dexter Anthony Fernando Phd, Chairman of Viswam Campus was the Chief Guest at the Ceremony. Deshakeerthi Dr. Irshard Jabir Phd., graced the occation as Guest of Honour.

The highlight of the event was signing of an MOU between Viswam Campus and Heartwork Academy of Psychological Studies for affiliation and awarding of certificates through the Campus.

Haji I Y M Hanif and As Sheikh Saabir Mohammed Hashim were recipients of Excellent Services Award for their great dedication and commitment to humanity.
